A thoughtful assessment gives us the clearest picture of your child's strengths, needs, motivators, and what your family is hoping for.

What to Expect

A welcoming, low-pressure process.

Direct Observation

Play first, paperwork later.

Your BCBA spends time getting to know your child through play — building rapport and gently sampling skills across communication, social, and daily-living domains.

  • Sessions feel like play, not testing
  • We follow your child's lead and interests
  • Parents are welcome to participate

Family Interview

Your priorities, on paper.

We talk through your daily routines, what's working, what's hard, and what you most want to see change. Your goals shape the entire plan.

  • Cultural and family values are central
  • School and community routines are included
  • You always have the final say on goals

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does an assessment take?
Most assessments span 2–4 sessions of direct observation plus a family interview, usually completed within 2–4 weeks of intake.
Do I need a diagnosis before the assessment?
Yes, an autism or related diagnosis is typically required for insurance and regional center funding. We can point you to evaluators if you don't have one yet.
Will my child be 'tested'?
Not in the traditional sense. The BCBA samples skills through play and natural interactions. Most kids think they're just having a fun visit.
How often is reassessment done?
Formal reassessments occur every six months to keep programming aligned with your child's growth. Data is reviewed continuously between formal reassessments.
Can I be present during the assessment?
Absolutely. Parent participation is welcome and often helpful — especially for younger children.
